Vote explained

Beginning with the 2026 season, every team would play for two results during each regular-season week: the traditional head-to-head matchup and a second matchup against the league median score.

2–0 Win the head-to-head matchup and finish in the top half.
1–1 Win one weekly result and lose the other.
0–2 Lose the head-to-head matchup and finish in the bottom half.

How the median result works

In our 12-team league, the six highest-scoring teams each week earn an additional win, while the six lowest-scoring teams receive an additional loss.

Why make the change?

This preserves head-to-head matchups while reducing schedule luck. A team that posts one of the week’s best scores but faces the highest scorer can still earn a win.

The tradeoff

The scheduled head-to-head result would account for half of each week’s record instead of determining the entire weekly result.

Administration and playoffs

Yahoo supports this format natively and will calculate the median, update records, and maintain the standings automatically. No weekly commissioner work is required. The extra median matchup applies during the regular season only; the playoffs remain normal head-to-head matchups.
